Enhance your Super Rolodex knowledge by learning these Quick Tips
Did you know that you can...
Create New Databases.
Creating a new database is easy. At the top of the main window, click Database, then click Database Creator. When the Database Creator window opens, just provide a name, then click Create. The program will create an exact copy of the current database and it will ask you if you want to include the current records or have no records in the new database. Note: The new database will be installed inside a new folder of the same name as your new database and will be installed in the application path. The reason the program uses a copy of the database is so that the new database will also inherit the license key so that when the Super Rolodex program connects to that database, it will run in full version mode.
Modify/Design the User Interface.
You can get under the hood and customize the user-interface by adding or removing or editing the many properties of each of these objects:
200 Text Boxes
200 Labels
200 Drop-Down Boxes
200 Check Boxes
200 Static Images
200 Dynammic Images
To get started, click Design at the top of the window, then click Interface Design. The Deisigner window opens and you can make changes to objects by changing their properties. To move an object, select it with the mouse, then click/drag the red box. To size the object, click/drag a blue box, or change the property manually in the properties pane on the left.
Import Records from a CSV, TAB or Excel file.
If you have records in an Excel file that you would like to import into Super Rolodex, start by using Excel to change the order of the colums so they match up with the order of columns in Super Rolodex. Then use Super Rolodex to import the records. Depending on what version of Super Rolodex you have, you will find the Import function listed in either the File menu or the Tools menu.
Print Records to a Text File or PDF printer for use in mobile
devises such as smart-phones, tablets etc.
In addition to just standard printing, you can make Super Rolodex mobile by printing the records to a pdf printer (which creates a pdf file of the printout). Note: If you don't already have a pdf printer installed on your system, you can find them for free from any reputable software download site. Once you print the records to a pdf file, you can upload the pdf file to your phone, i-pad or tablet. Just open the pdf file on your device and use the pdf file search feature to find the Super Rolodex record you want. It's not quite the same as having a mobile version of Super Rolodex, but its one way you can do it to achieve the same result.
Link pictures, files and websites directly to individual records.
If you hover your mouse over a label or a text box, right-click the mouse and a window or context menu will appear that enables you to browse to a file on your system. This will link the file to that label or text box. Once the file is linked to the label or text box, a single left-click of the mouse on the label or text box will instantly open the file. If the link is the only thing in the text box, right click the mouse and select Launch URL. Likewise, if there is a bunch of text in a text box and the link is within that body of text, you can use your mouse to highlight the link, then right-click the mouse and select Launch URL.
Integrate your searches with Google and Google Maps.
Lets say you are viewing a record containing a business name and a street address. You can use your mouse and right click in the business name field, then from the context menu that appears, click Search Google. Your browser will open and perform a google search on that business. Likewise, if you wanted to see a google map or get directions, you can do the same as previously described except this time you would right-click your mouse on the address and select Search Google Maps.
Password protect specific records.
Password protecting individual records can be quite handy for obvious reasons. For example you may want to keep a record availble for only you to have access to view private data. If you have created or are viewing a record that you want to make private by assigning a password, use the Record Password tool found in the Tools menu.
Sticky Notes feature.
The Sticky Notes feature is a recent addition that we are excited about. We found that having the ability to click one button in Super Rolodex and have your sticky notes instantly populate the screen, makes it a quick time saver to access important information without having to ''search'' for it. Like any sticky notes you may already use, you have a choice of assigning various colors to your stick note, and you can size the sticky note by chaning the borders with your mouse, and you can position the sticky note anywhere on your screen with your mouse by click and drag of the top of the sticky note. For those cases where you might have a lot of text on a sticky note, specific information is easily found because each sticky note has its own search/highlight function. Sticky Notes can be found in the Tools menu.
