How long does it take to receive the license key after purchase?
All purchases (license key requests) are fulfilled by the end of the day, but are usually emailed within a couple hours of receiving paypal notification of payment. I also follow up within a day or two to make sure that you did receive the license key.
How do I move Super Rolodex to a new computer? I recently purchased a new computer and am in the process of moving everything from my old computer to my new computer. Do I have to register it again?
The simplest way to move SuperRolodex to a new computer is to simply copy the SuperRolodex7 folder from your old computer and paste it onto a backup media such as a usb-drive. Then put that usb-drive into your new computer and copy/paste the SuperRolodex7 folder from the usb-drive into the C-Drive on the new computer. Now that the program is copied onto your new computer, all that is left to do is make a shortcut on your desktop. To do that in your new computer, open Windows File Explorer and navigate into the SuperRolodex7 folder on the C-drive. In that folder you will see several files. Right-click your mouse on the SuperRolodex7.exe program file and select ''Send to Desktop''. Once you have done that, you are good to go.
Since the registration is stored in the database, and you are simply copying all the files, moving it to a new computer has no effect on registration. It will run in full registered mode exactly as it did on your old computer. Therefore, you will not need to register it again.
I own version 6 of Super Rolodex. Do I get a free upgrade to version 7 or do I need to repurchase it?
You don't have to repurchase the license. Upgrading from version 6 to version 7 is free. Follow these steps to upgrade...
1. Email me the SuperRolodex7 serial number. This is found by clicking File, then click Register this App.
2. I will reply with a license key that will register SuperRolodex7 on your computer.
3. After you register SuperRolodex7, you will want to get the records from version 6 into version 7, and that is done by doing the following...
4. In SuperRolodex6, click File, then click Export. The records are exported to a TAB or CSV file.
5. In SuperRolodex7, click File, then click Import. Select the export file that you created in the previous step. The records are imported into SuperRolodex7.
How do we integrate the Super Rolodex system on our server for our company to be able to see our contacts on other computers? For example: if we enter a contact we want to be able to see the information on other computers rather than having to update the information individually on other computers.
Yes, SuperRolodex can easily be networked on a server and work exactly as you stated.
Step 1: Copy the Database1.rsd database that is located in C:\SuperRolodex7 folder - to a shared folder on your company server.
Step 2: On the top of the SuperRolodex main window, click Database, then click Database Manager. (Database Manager window opens).
Step 3: On the Database Manager window, browse to the Database1.rsd database file that is now on your company server. SuperRolodex is now connected to that database and it will remember that connection so whenever you start SuperRolodex it will automatically connect to that database.
Repeat step 2 on each computer that is running SuperRolodex.
RECORD PASSOWRDS: The program can be password protected at the record level - where you can set sensative records to require a password in order for the user to view it. Also, the database itself is now encrypted as well.
USER LOGIN PASSWORDS: You can change the password for any user as well as an admin user, but you must be logged in as a user that has admin authority. Note: Any user is considered to have admin authority if ALL the [allow] boxes are checked on the Program Settings window for the specified user. On the Program Settings window, you can create users and set passwords for users and set their access level. You can also change the admin password there as well.
I'm looking to create a database of referring doctors and their hours of operation. That way I can lookup all doctors, grouped according to zip code (thus grouping them geographically), and can create a list of doctors that are open on Wednesdays or any day of the week. This tool would allow me to figure out where I need to go in a tri-state area and be more productive if knew their business hours. Does your program allow me to put in their demographics and hours of operation and then type in a search for who is open on Monday, or Wenesday, etc?
Yes - Super Rolodex would be perfect for you. You can use the Interface Designer to set the label captions and text-boxes up to show ''Zip Code'' and ''Business Hours''. Then, when you create new records or edit existing ones, you would just type in the zip code in the appropriate field and type ''Open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 7:00am to 6:00pm'' for example in the appropriate field, then save the record.
Then, when you want to come up with a list of doctors that are in zip code 59801 and open on Wednesday, you would click the ''Adv Search'' button, which then allows you to specify what field or fields you want to perform the search on. That way you can filter by zip code and by days they are open. After performing the search, the result will list all the doctors offices that are in zip code 59801 and are open on Wednesday. From there, you can print the record list and take it with you.
And to take it one step further, since the print out goes to a text file, if you have a drop-box account or Google-Drive, you could send the text file to your drop-box or Google Drive, then you can access it when you are on the go from your other devices such as a smart phone or I-pad.
Can you tell me if you have an app for phones and whether or not there is a way to get SuperRolodex and our current database on our phones, tablets and iPads? This would be a major improvement for us since not all of our work is done from the office and we don't have a way to access the information that we have in SuperRolodex unless we are at one of our PCs or laptops.
Yes - there is a way to access a copy of the record data from any device in the field, such as tablets and phones, etc using Google Docs. Here is one way to set it up...
Step 1: On the SuperRolodex main window, click File, then click Print. SuperRolodex prints (saves) the database records to a text file.
Step 2: Log in to Google Drive and upload the text file.
Step 3: Copy the sharable link that Google provides, and email that link to your users.
Step 4: When your users click the link, the text file will open on their device. If there is no search/find button, then click ''Open with Google Docs''. The file then opens in Google Docs. To search for something in Google Docs, click Edit, then click Find.
Just keep in mind that the users are really only viewing and searching a text-based copy of the records from the Super Rolodex database (not the actual database itself). Updates to the database will still need to be done using Super Rolodex on your computer. There should be a way to add a shortcut on your device that points to the text file in Google Drive.
Is it possible to run Super Rolodex from a USB drive? I use several different computers at work and if I'm able to utilize this on any of the computers I am currently using it would be great.
Yes - Super Rolodex can be run from a USB-Drive. Just copy the SuperRolodex7 folder onto your USB-Drive. You can run it from there. That's one of the nice things about the program is that it is self contained which helps make it mobile.
Can Super Rolodex be made to be a read only?
What i would like to do is SHARE the database but have it so changes can only be made by me.
SuperRolodex7 has a log-in screen on startup. The program has two hard-coded users already setup. (admin and guest). Admin of course has full access. Guest is read only. The Guest user name and password are both: guest. A guest user doesn't even have to type the password, they can simply click the ''Login as Guest'' link under the login button and the program will automatically log them in as guest with read only access.
Note: with you being the admin, you can change your password so other users can't log in as you. You can also setup other user names and passwords each with thier own specific access privileges. You set them up in the Program Settings window.
I have a brokerage house and would like to send updates to certain clients on a monthly basis. This would be a better system than constant contact if it did that.
The new version does have a mail-merge tool. It's called ''Email & Web Extractor''. It pulls emails or weblinks from a single record (or all records) and populates the addresses in a list box, which gives you the chance to remove some if you want. Then you click the ''Mass-Email'' button and that starts a blank email with all the email recipients from the list addressed in the recipients section of your email. Simply finish your email message and send.
Can we can copy the database to our network share and install Super Rolodex on any number of computers and have them connect to the shared database?
Yes you can. The license key is stored in the database, so you can install Super Rolodex on any number of computers and they will all run in full registered mode when they are connected to that database. When the database is on your network share, then you use the Database Manager from each workstation to point it to the shared database on the network share. When user ''A'' adds or updates a record, user ''B'' and user ''C'' etc, etc, will be able to see those records as well. However, if user ''A'' and user ''B'' were both looking at the same exact record, and user ''A'' makes a change to that record, user ''B'' won't see the updated change to that record until he clicks on the record in the list again, which of course populates the current record data into the text boxes.
What is the best way to backup Super Rolodex and all its related files?
All the files that SuperRolodex uses, such as: (exe file and database file, connection string file, and dll files) should all be inside the SuperRolodex7 folder which should be located at C:\SuperRolodex7\. Making a backup of that folder is the only thing you need to do because all the files that SuperRolodex needs is self contained in that folder.
If you wanted to just make a backup copy of the current database, from the SuperRolodex program, click File, then click Backup Database. What that does is makes a new folder on the C-Drive, and copies the current database to the backup folder, and the name of the folder is Backup-11-12-18-SuperRolodex7 (or whatever the current date is). But as suggested above, if you make a backup of the SuperRolodex7 folder that contains all the files, that's really all you need for a backup, then put it on a USB-drive or some other external media for safe keeping.
Is there a way to import and export our records from Excel into Super Rolodex?
Yes, the program can import and export records to and from Excel files, including Tab delimited files and CSV. You can import records into Super Rolodex, and likewise, you can export the records from Super Rolodex. On the Super Rolodex main window, click File, then click Import, or click Export (depending on what you are wanting to do, then follow the on screen instructions.
Is the license good for multiple computers?
Yes, one license is all you need even when running Super Rolodex on multiple computers.
The registration is stored in the Super Rolodex database, so after you register Super Rolodex on one computer, simply copy the Database1.rsd database file located at C:\SuperRolodex7\Database1.rsd from the ''registered'' computer and paste it onto a USB drive. Then, on each computer that you have installed Super Rolodex on, paste the ''registered database'' into the same location on each computer. At this point, each computer that you have done this for will now have an exact copy of the program and registered database as your first computer.
Any computer that connects to a prevously registered database (even a copy of a previously registered database) will inherit that registration and run in full registered mode.
Is there a way for us to share the same file?
For situations where you have 2 or more computers running Super Rolodex and you want both of the computers to access one database so that you are all viewing the same records, you basically copy a database to a shared folder and then point the Super Rolodex programs to the database, which consist of the following steps:
Copy the Database1.rsd database file (located at C:\SuperRolodex7\Database1.rsd) to a shared folder that both computers have access to.
Use the Database Manager in Super Rolodex to point the Super Rolodex program to the database that is now in your shared folder. (Do this for each computer running Super Rolodex).
Also, you can find information in the user manual here: User Manual Page

Are there any limits to the number of contacts your program holds? I am looking for something that will manage 10,000 contacts with all of the tabs available for additional information.
There is no limit to the number of records you can save. And if you want to modify the user-interface (layout), you use the Designer for that. You have the following objects to work with that can be spread out over 20 different tabs.
200 Labels
200 Text Boxes
200 Check-Boxes
200 Drop-Down Boxes
200 Static Images
200 Dynamic Images
... all of which are available for every record you add.
Is there a limit to the number of users?
The program is geared for small networks, so it is limited to about 15 users who are logged in at the same time. When you have that many people or more logged in at the same time, database saves don't always commit. With that said, there is an easy way to see how many people are logged into the database. On the SuperRolodex main window (at the top of the record list on the left) you will see ''Welcome admin'' or whatever user it currently is. Click that link and the Active Users window will open showing a list of all users log-in status. Black text means they are logged in. Red text means they are logged out.
